Synlait Project Traction – New Railsiding

This project involved creating a new rail track alongside the existing main track so that cargo trains could be diverted into the Synlait factory.

This project involved :

HARDSTAND AREA

Built alongside the track for loading and unloading. Scope of works included clearing existing trees, erosion control, relocating an existing bund, creating a nardstand base-course and installing associated stormwater drainage.

RAILSIDING CIVIL WORKS

Bulk earthworks in KiwiRail land.

Rail siding base-course prepared.

Stormwater line and drainage installed. SW Culvert installed

Compacted ballast laydown along new railway

Construction of rail access gravel road

RAIL PEDESTRIAN TACKS

• KiwiRail installed the railway line itself in May, and GHC began work to construct a pedestrian track between the old and new railway lines.
